What is Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)?

SLT is often used to treat open-angle glaucoma. This gentle laser is aimed at the trabecular meshwork to stimulate the flow of fluid out of the eye. The treatment is painless and takes only a few minutes. SLT is gentle, non-thermal and non-invasive, which allows the procedure to be repeated. It lowers the eye pressure by 20-30% and is effective in 80% of patients.

Traditionally, SLT is recommended if eye drops do not control your glaucoma adequately. Dr Yun also offers this as first line therapy in open angle glaucoma because of its favourable efficacy and safety profile.
